The largest poetry collection of 19th-century emigrants from Luxembourg to the United States. Topics are reminiscences about Luxembourg, the new life in America, pioneers, solidarity, religion as well as American and Luxembourgish folklore. Published in Dubuque, Iowa, in 1883, it contains poems by newspaper editor Nicolas Gonner (1835-1892), farmer and poet Nicolas Edouard Becker (1842-1920), better known as Beckesch Klos, and Jean-Baptiste Nau (1859-1891), who only spent a few years in the Unites States before returning to Luxembourg. - Summary by Sandra Schmit
